Maria Nuzzo

Maria was born in Naples, Italy, but has resided in Virginia Beach, Virginia for over 30 years. She began her career in education as Spanish teacher in Virginia Beach City Public Schools in 1995. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from Virginia Wesleyan College, a Master of Science in Education degree from Old Dominion University, and a Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. In 2007, she became Virginia Beach City Public Schools instructional specialist for world languages. Her responsibilities include, but are not limited to, working with site administrators to provide expertise and support to the K‑12 world languages program, planning and conducting professional development activities, observing and providing instructional assistance to teachers of world languages, and assisting with curriculum development and assessment.

She is an animal lover and shares her home with many dogs, cats, and fish. She enjoys reading, boating, cooking, and watching movies in her free time.
